Today, the Rumaillah Group is a large concern, involved in many aspects of
Qatari business life, but it began, like many of the world’s greatest companies
as a small family business.
H. E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Bin Abdullah Al Thani,
a leading member of the Qatar Ruling Family, established a general contracting
and trading company in 1978.
Throughout the 1980s, the company focused on its core business of providing
storage systems to customers, creating a firm foundation which has enabled it
to take full advantage of the flourishing economic climate in the region.
Wishing to play a greater role in the exciting developments which were taking
place, the company began a programme of expansion and diversification.
In 1996 the Interiors Division was launched, followed a year later by the
Materials Handling Division. These are now autonomous companies – Rumaillah
Services W.L.L. and Rumaillah Motors W.L.L. To accommodate their success,
a purpose built central store and workshop for carpentry, steel fabrication and
spray painting were built in 1998, followed two years later by a purpose-built
office, service and parts complex for Rumaillah Motors.
It soon became apparent that there was a gap in the market to provide
customers of Rumaillah Services with high quality maintenance support,
and this led to the opening of a Maintenance Division in 2001. This enabled
the company to offer a seamless service to customers, unwilling or unable to
undertake their own maintenance.
In 2004, Rumaillah Construction was launched to take advantage of the
requirements for quality contract management solutions for the many building
projects happening in Qatar.
Finally, in 2006 the Group diversified into the
logistics arena, establishing Rumaillah Logistics as a global freight forwarding
and customs clearing company. |
